Shannon’s Classic 2013

Phillip Island

Sunday the 10th of March.

It was a beautiful clear day with minimal wind and maximum horsepower.

Thousands of enthusiasts flocked to the Island to experience the blasts from the past.

Motoring royalty from ex competition V8’s to classic Cobra’s, GT 40’s and Porsche’s. If it had pedigree; it was there.

Mark Skaife made a late appearance, arriving by helicopter (from his son’s birthday party) starting at the back of the pack and finishing 2nd.

Even our good mate’s John and Scotty from Red Bus Racing had their beautiful Winfield replica skyline out on the track.

The enthusiast display glimmered through the heat haze as we walked. Rows of freshly washed machines would emerge through the blurred horizon as we moved towards them.

The car of the weekend (for me) was a beautifully presented Datsun Bluebird.

About the author: Lloyd Waldron

Cars are more then transport, they represent more than freedom or independence and they are a part of our identity. Cars reflect the personality of their owners. You can instantly tell if the owner takes pride in themselves; you'll know if they have a messy bedroom and occasionally you'll guess their sense of humor. Cars say so much about people, so I figure I should say something about them..
