Stable to Coast – Tarmac Toys® Cruise

The Stable to Coast cruise was the last official Tarmac Toys® car cruise for 2013.

To make the most of the warmer weather we decided to head for the coast.

The crew meet at a leisurely 9.30am at the Pakenham McDonalds. We charged up with coffee and Mc muffins, re-fuelled our machines and hit the road.

Everything was running smoothly as we joined the M1 and headed towards our first exit at Warragul, until I missed the exit due to chatting with my passenger. Ultimately we had to get off the HWY one exit late, loop around and have a second attempt.

The first section of the cruise after the HWY from Warragul to Korumburra was beautiful! It was windy and fun to drive! I did find myself playing dodgem with holes and general road deterioration. This section required full attention, which was hard as the views over the farm lands were pretty amazing. There are loads of great places to stop and take it all in.

The second section was an easy drive down to Inverloch. There are some really windy parts, but mostly it was smooth sailing. Heading down to the coast we discovered a cycling event, which slowed things right down. The presence of the cyclists wasn’t too annoying, even though we found ourselves stuck behind a few; it did gave us time to appreciate the views.

After that we headed inland and had a well-earned lunch at a pub in Wonthaggi.

Summing up, a cruise like this is probably 50% about the people and an even 25/25% split between cars and road itself. We always enjoy hanging out with like-minded people who clearly care for and respect their motor vehicles.

Here’s a map and some pics from the day!

About the author: Lloyd Waldron

Cars are more then transport, they represent more than freedom or independence and they are a part of our identity. Cars reflect the personality of their owners. You can instantly tell if the owner takes pride in themselves; you'll know if they have a messy bedroom and occasionally you'll guess their sense of humor. Cars say so much about people, so I figure I should say something about them..
